The lines that stretch either side are a reminder to give abundance to others in order to receive it and to allow it to flow from many sources. The purapura whetū or star seeds that sit at the top of the weave represent those that are no longer with use and our tūpuna, a reminder of all the gifts they gave with regards to knowledge, love, tikanga and ways of knowing, being and doing. The star seeds that sit on the bottom of the weve are a reminder that what we do now is to set up for our future generation so they can live in a world of abundance.

The Tūmatakahuki stitch represents the binding together of both our physical and spiritual world. Allowing us the comfort of knowing that although our loved ones may not be with us physically, we carry them with us in spirit intertwined with the spiritual and physical worlds of our lives.
